Terms of Use
Effective Date: January 15, 2025
Welcome to ShimmerLight Academy. By accessing our website at shimmerlighta.com or participating in our educational programs, you agree to these terms. If something here doesn't sit right with you, we'd appreciate you reaching out before proceeding. We're real people running an educational institution focused on consortium blockchain technology, and we want our relationship with students to start on solid ground.
Acceptance and Scope
These terms govern your use of our website, enrollment in programs, and interaction with our educational materials. When you submit an application, register for courses, or download resources from our platform, you're entering into a binding agreement with ShimmerLight Academy, located at No. 28, Lane 461, Xinliao Road, Dongshan Township, Yilan County, Taiwan 269.
We update these terms occasionally. Changes take effect when posted, and we'll notify enrolled students via email. Continued use after updates means acceptance. It's straightforward, but we won't hide changes in fine print.
Eligibility Requirements
Our programs are designed for adult learners. You must be at least 18 years old to enroll. If you're representing an organization, you warrant that you have authority to bind that entity to these terms.
Prerequisites and Honest Representation
When applying for advanced programs, you need to accurately represent your technical background. We assess applications individually because consortium blockchain education requires specific foundational knowledge. Misrepresenting your qualifications wastes everyone's time and sets you up for struggle in coursework that assumes certain competencies.
Educational Services and Program Delivery
We offer structured learning programs focused on consortium blockchain technologies. Programs typically run for 8 to 14 months, beginning in autumn 2025 for the next cohort. Our delivery combines online instruction, practical projects, and mentorship sessions.
What We Provide
- Access to learning platform and course materials during your enrollment period
 - Instructor-led sessions scheduled according to program curriculum
 - Technical mentorship from practitioners working in blockchain implementation
 - Project feedback and guidance throughout coursework
 - Access to community forums and peer learning groups
 - Documentation and resources specific to consortium blockchain frameworks

What We Don't Promise
Education is collaborative. We can't guarantee specific outcomes, employment, or income levels. Success depends heavily on your effort, prior experience, and market conditions. We're committed to quality instruction, but we're not selling guaranteed results.
Student Obligations and Conduct
Participation requires commitment beyond payment. Here's what we expect:
- Attend scheduled sessions or watch recordings within one week of posting
 - Complete assignments by deadlines, requesting extensions when life happens
 - Engage respectfully with instructors and fellow students
 - Use provided materials for learning purposes, not commercial redistribution
 - Maintain academic integrity—your work should be your work
 - Protect login credentials and don't share account access
 - Notify us promptly if you need to pause or withdraw from a program

Academic Honesty Matters: Plagiarism or submitting others' work as your own results in immediate dismissal without refund. The blockchain industry is small, and reputation matters. We're preparing you for professional environments where integrity isn't negotiable.
Intellectual Property Rights
The relationship between our content and your work deserves clarity.
Our Materials
Course content, videos, documentation, code examples, and platform design belong to ShimmerLight Academy or our licensors. You receive a limited, non-transferable license to use these materials for personal learning during enrollment. Recording sessions, redistributing materials, or creating derivative educational products violates this license.
Your Work
Projects you create remain yours. We may request permission to showcase exceptional student work in marketing materials, always with attribution and your explicit consent. You're never obligated to agree, and it doesn't affect your standing in programs.
Feedback and Contributions
If you suggest improvements or contribute to community resources, we may incorporate those ideas into curriculum. By participating in forums or submitting feedback, you grant us non-exclusive rights to use those contributions to improve our programs.
Payment Terms and Refund Policy
Program fees are outlined in enrollment agreements. Payment plans are available for most programs, with details provided during application review.
Payment Obligations
Tuition is due according to your payment schedule. Late payments may result in temporary platform access suspension until accounts are current. We understand financial difficulties occur—contact us immediately if you're struggling to meet obligations. We've worked with students facing unexpected challenges, but communication is essential.
Refund Windows
- Full refund if you withdraw within 14 days of program start and before accessing more than 20% of course materials
 - 50% refund if withdrawal occurs within 30 days of program start
 - No refunds after 30 days from program commencement
 - Payment plan balances remain due even if you withdraw without refund eligibility

Refund requests require written notice to contact@shimmerlighta.com. Processing takes 10-15 business days from approval.
Privacy and Data Handling
We collect information necessary to deliver educational services: contact details, educational background, payment information, and learning activity data. Our separate Privacy Policy details how we handle this information, but key points include:
- We don't sell student data to third parties
 - Learning analytics help us improve curriculum but remain aggregated and anonymized
 - Communications are education-focused; we're not flooding your inbox with promotions
 - You can request data deletion after program completion, though we retain financial records as required by law

Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act applies to our data practices. We maintain compliance with applicable regulations and treat your information with appropriate care.
Platform Access and Technical Requirements
Our learning platform requires stable internet connection and modern web browser. Specific technical requirements are provided before enrollment. We're not responsible for access issues caused by your equipment, internet service, or outdated software.
Service Availability
We maintain platform availability but can't promise zero downtime. Scheduled maintenance happens during off-peak hours with advance notice. Unexpected outages are addressed promptly, with affected session times rescheduled or content made available extended periods.
Account Security
You're responsible for account security. Use strong passwords, enable two-factor authentication when available, and notify us immediately of unauthorized access. We're not liable for losses resulting from compromised credentials you failed to protect.
Limitation of Liability
Let's be direct about liability boundaries. ShimmerLight Academy provides educational services, not guaranteed outcomes. We limit liability to the fullest extent permitted by law.
What We're Not Responsible For
- Employment outcomes or income levels after program completion
 - Decisions you make based on course content or instructor advice
 - Third-party services or platforms referenced in curriculum
 - Technical issues with your equipment or internet connection
 - Conflicts between students or outside our educational environment
 - Changes in blockchain technology that outdate curriculum content

Maximum Liability: Our total liability for any claim related to your enrollment or use of our services is limited to the tuition you paid for the specific program involved. This applies regardless of the legal theory—contract, tort, or otherwise.
Some jurisdictions don't allow certain liability limitations. If you're in one, the minimum restrictions permitted by law apply instead.
Program Changes and Cancellations
We reserve the right to modify curriculum content to reflect technology developments or improve educational outcomes. Significant changes are communicated with reasonable notice.
If We Cancel a Program
Rarely, we may need to cancel a program due to insufficient enrollment or instructor unavailability. If this happens before your program starts, you receive a full refund or can transfer to the next cohort. If cancellation occurs after commencement, we provide prorated refunds for undelivered content and work to arrange alternative completion paths when possible.
Instructor Changes
Specific instructors aren't guaranteed for entire program duration. We maintain teaching quality if instructor changes occur, but we can't promise particular individuals throughout your enrollment.
Termination Rights
We can terminate your enrollment for violating these terms, particularly regarding academic dishonesty, harassment, or consistent non-participation. Termination for cause doesn't entitle you to refunds.
Voluntary Withdrawal
You can withdraw anytime by written notice. Refund eligibility depends on timing per our refund policy. Outstanding payment obligations continue unless you're eligible for refund that covers those amounts.
Post-Termination
After enrollment ends (completion, withdrawal, or termination), platform access concludes within 30 days. Download any materials you want to retain during this window. You're still bound by confidentiality and intellectual property provisions even after access ends.
Dispute Resolution
We prefer resolving issues directly. If you have concerns, contact us at contact@shimmerlighta.com or +886922988691. Most problems get worked out through straightforward conversation.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by Taiwan law. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in Yilan County, Taiwan.
Mediation Before Litigation
Before pursuing legal action, both parties agree to attempt mediation through a mutually agreed mediator in Taiwan. This isn't about making disputes difficult—it's about finding practical solutions without unnecessary legal expenses.
Miscellaneous Provisions
These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and ShimmerLight Academy regarding our educational services. They supersede any prior discussions or understandings.
Severability
If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. The unenforceable part gets modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid.
No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision doesn't constitute a waiver of that right. We might give students breaks on deadlines or work with payment difficulties, but that doesn't mean we've abandoned those terms permanently.
Assignment
You can't transfer your enrollment or these terms to another person without our written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations if ShimmerLight Academy is acquired or restructured, but your learning experience and our commitments continue unchanged.
Force Majeure
Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control—natural disasters, pandemics, government actions, or infrastructure failures. We'll make reasonable efforts to minimize disruption and communicate alternative arrangements.
Questions and Interpretation
Legal language sometimes creates ambiguity. If you're unsure about any provision, ask before enrolling. We're happy to clarify what terms mean in practical application.
These terms are written in English, which is the authoritative version for interpretation. If we provide translations for convenience, the English version controls in any conflict.
